10 Years of Free2B

Thank you for celebrating 10 years with us!

From June 2025 to June 2026, we celebrated Free2B’s 10th birthday with a year of reflection and celebration.

It gave us the chance to look back on a decade of creating safe spaces, championing inclusion and supporting LGBTQ+ young people and their families.

Thank you to every young person, parent, volunteer, fundraiser, donor, partner and supporter who helped make our 10th birthday year so special.

10 years of impact

A lot has changed since Free2B was established in 2015, but our purpose has remained the same: creating spaces where LGBTQ+ young people and their families can feel safe, supported and free to be themselves.

Over our first 10 years, Free2B delivered:

  • 1,050+ youth group sessions
  • 6,500+ hours of 1:1 support
  • 450+ safe-space school forums
  • 150+ Proud Parents sessions
  • LGBTQ+ inclusivity training for 2,100+ professionals

Alongside Free2B’s 10th birthday, we also celebrated 15 years of GAP Youth Club, which is a wonderful reminder of the difference that consistent, long-term support can make.

Our community, in their own words…

To mark our 10th birthday, we created a special video bringing together past and present members of the Free2B community to talk about what our support has meant to them.

Their stories are a powerful reminder of why Free2B exists and why safe, affirming LGBTQ+ spaces continue to matter.

We smashed our £10,000 fundraising target!

We set ourselves an ambitious goal of raising £10,000 during our 10th birthday year. Thanks to our incredible community of supporters, we smashed that target!

Together, you helped us raise an amazing £11,128.63

From our colourful 10K for 10K walk around Battersea Park to brilliant individual fundraising challenges, lots of you got involved.

A special thank you to everyone who donated or fundraised for us, including Dan, who ran the London Marathon for Free2B, Georgina and their Big Queer Workout, and Max and Alison, who took on their own fantastic fundraising challenges.

10K for 10K and Wandsworth Family Pride

One of the highlights of our birthday year was bringing the Free2B community together in Battersea Park for our 10K for 10K fundraising walk.

We walked, celebrated and raised vital funds together before continuing the celebrations at Wandsworth Family Pride, where Free2B took to the stage to share our journey and our wonderful T performed their poetry.

It was a joyful way to celebrate everything Free2B stands for: community, inclusion and queer joy.

Celebrating our history

Our 10th birthday bunting project invited young people from across Free2B’s services to create designs showing what Free2B means to them.

Their designs were professionally printed alongside memories from our first decade, creating a colourful celebration of identity, belonging and the Free2B community.

We were incredibly proud to see the finished bunting exhibited at Battersea Arts Centre during LGBTQ+ History Month 2026.

Our birthday year gave us plenty more reasons to celebrate

Independent research from Pro Bono Economics (PBE) provided powerful evidence of the difference our Free2Talk 1:1 mentoring service makes to LGBTQ+ young people. Their Seen, Safe and Supported report found significant improvements in wellbeing and estimated around £4 of benefit for every £1 spent on Free2Talk.

We also took Free2B out into the wider community, from joining Wandsworth Family Pride and Adobe’s Pride Fest, to taking part in the post-show Q&A for LULLA at the Omnibus Theatre.

We were incredibly grateful to be chosen as the focus of Northcote Church’s Christmas Appeal, and throughout the year our young people continued to enjoy the activities, trips and experiences that make Free2B such a joyful community.

Here’s to the next 10 years

Our 10th birthday year may have come to an end, but our work certainly hasn’t.

LGBTQ+ young people continue to need spaces where they can feel safe, find community and be completely themselves. As we look towards Free2B’s next decade, we want to make sure those spaces continue to be there for every young person who needs them.

To everyone who has been part of Free2B’s story so far, thank you.

Here’s to the next 10 years of safe spaces, support, community and queer joy.
