Free2B’s Young People are Shaping Inclusive Practice

Rainbow Power is Free2B’s youth council. They are a group of LGBTQ+ young people who come together to influence the services and spaces around them.

One of the ways they do this is through our Rainbow Power Community Assessments (known by our members as QuOfsted). These assessments are designed and delivered by young people who support schools, youth settings and community organisations to reflect on how inclusive they truly are for LGBTQ+ young people.

Using a framework created by Rainbow Power themselves, the assessors look at everything from policies and staff confidence to visibility, language and culture. Organisations receive clear, constructive feedback and practical recommendations to strengthen their approach. Those who meet the standard are awarded a Rainbow Power inclusivity sticker to display, signalling their commitment to creating affirming environments.

This work ensures that LGBTQ+ young people are not only supported. They are actively shaping the standards that affect them.
