Trans wellbeing

We deliver a trans well-being peer support group during the school holidays. The group is for trans and gender variant young people to come together in a safe space and explore positive coping strategies and improve well-being.

Working with our trans members we have developed a trans 101 guide.

race & faith

We recognise that there are often additional barriers for queer young people who are black and Asian and those from faith backgrounds. Information can often focus on negative aspects of these intersectionalities and so we are delighted to bring to you a fabulous guide created by our support worker Zari celebrating identities.

We recognise that there are barriers preventing many of our members from getting involved. In particular, this impacts black and brown young people, those from faith communities and individuals who are not out at home.

To address this, alongside our fabulous members above, we also have an extended council – Rainbow PowerHouse enabling young people to help us with decision making through online engagement.

Our youth council are always busy working on social action projects as well as supporting Free2B to ensure our services are responsive to needs.

Past and present Gap youth club members and Free2Talk mentees aged 14+ are welcome to apply. For more information and to request an application form, please contact: [email protected] | 07757 502 726

What do rainbow power reps
Say about us?

  • Often, as a young person, I feel powerless and like my voice doesn’t get heard. Working with other queer young people and making a difference had made me start referring to myself as an activist: a quality I thought I’d only ever aspire to.

    Rainbow Power Rep

  • I have thoroughly enjoyed being able to help direct & administer Free2B’s services….I will always treasure the experience of being able to give something back…

    Rainbow Power Rep

  • I have been able to contribute to a better Gap experience…

    Rainbow Power Rep

  • I did not expect to still be alive at this age, but because of all the care and support I have received from The Gap, and the sheer happiness I gain from being there, I am on track to start at a top 10 university in September which will steer me in the direction of my dream career…

    Gap Member

  • I used to go to the Gap a few years ago and I just wanted to say thank you to you and the other workers at the youth club for making it such a warm and welcoming place. Although I haven’t attended lately it’s something I hold close to me and know I really needed at the time. Thank you for giving me something that school and home couldn’t provide for me.

    Gap Member

  • I’ve been going to the Gap since I was 13. Nicki has helped me through so much. She has helped me come to terms with who I am. She’s always there to talk, she’s helped me through being in love, my first heartbreak. I feel like I can talk to her about anything, she has become like a second mum to me.
